Anouk

I've been working on getting Anouk finished for Gretchen before she starts crawling and dresses will be more of a pain to put on her. since she's ALMOST mobile I've been busting my butt. she went from stationary last weekend to rolling/scooting all over the living room. once she figures out how to get on her hands and knees its all over and life is over as I know it. ha!

enjoy my model- my teddy bear Rosie which was my grandmother's and given to me when she passed away.

in the pattern Anouk just has tabs on the side to hold it closed, but I'm thinking of seaming the sides starting where the blue/green meet and up to the arm hole. might work better for a wee one wearing it.

potty training and books...oh my!

I've been way too tired to knit lately so I've been reading books. I recently finished The Other Boleyn Girl. fantastic read, highly recommend it if you're into historical novels. since then I've started reading the sequel to that book The Boleyn Inheritance. I'm about 1/3 of the way through and its very fascinating. definitely enjoying this author and want to learn more about that time period in England. because from the family rumors somewhere way back in time I might be related to Mary: Queen of Scots. who knows? I mean...I know my family is originally from England. its fun to think about at least and to wonder if any of the people mentioned in the books are really my relatives.

Potty training. finally. bout freaking time. M is 3.5 years old and until this week has had absolutely no interest in going the bathroom. I'd offer it to him and he'd scream his head off. finally someone suggested bribing him with M&M's. its worked like a charm. he's had barely an accident since Wednesday. he's still in diapers for naps and bedtime, but will slowly be phasing those out.

update on the car situation: finally have all the paperwork filed for our GAP insurance claim. just have to wait to hear from them I guess. I'll probably call on Wednesday to make sure they got everything in the mail. hopefully we'll still get something back on the car. looks like it would be a max of $1200. but we still lost all the money we put into the car in car payments. which freaking sucks. I have contacted a lawyer to see what our options are suing wise. sent him the information he wanted just waiting to hear back from him. so who knows. we just want to be able to get a reliable vehicle. its been nice to have my parents car, but it doesn't fit three car seats in it all that well. so we need something bigger. so for now we're still looking.

update

My parentals are visiting for the weekend so no knitting for me and none done during the week as I was busting my butt to clean. fun fun fun. I know we all loooooove cleaning so much, right? right?

anyway, my happy news of the week is a lovely washer and dryer. the lovely Renee from SnB and her husband helped move it into our house. we were able to purchase them from another SnB'er for a very good price. I'm beyond excited that I can actually do laundry in my own house instead of going to the laundromat. first time in the 5+ years of being married that I can stop going to the laundromat. yay!

other happy news is that we have new wheels. well its actually my parent's car. they're leaving their car here and taking a rental home. they have another car there. we have the option of buying the car from them when we get our tax rebate or continue looking for a car that we want. but it gives us time to check things out thoroughly instead of being under a time crunch which is very beneficial. so we'll see. their car is actually the same as the car that got totaled. just 15 years old. and with about the same amount of mileage on it as we had on ours. ha! go figure, the older car has less mileage.

but I must get sleep. must sleep. going to see "Menopause: The Musical" tomorrow at Centre College's Norton Center. should be fun, I've heard its hilarious and I love seeing plays.

no knitting here

no knitting has been done here. Gretchen and I were in a car accident Tuesday afternoon. someone ran a red light and hit the my driver's side of the car. thankfully it was just the front of the car and not any further back. Gretchen is ok, but I'm not doing so hot. headed to the doctor tomorrow to get checked out. I have bruises everywhere, but my main concern is that I'm feeling rather dizzy and lightheaded along with not being able to focus on anything for an extended period of time which is very unlike me. below is what my car looks like afterwards (this was taken at the auto body shop)

yes I am crazy, so what?

I must be crazy. I joined the Sock Knitters Pentathlon 2008 on Ravelry. just what I needed, right? but looking back at the projects I finished in 2007, I made 6 pairs of socks and 1 pair of baby socks. so I can do this. just waiting for my order from Knit Picks to arrive.

besides I'm not the only one crazy. Ann is too :-P

I heart Ravelry

I really do! I had a bunch of yarn that was gifted to me. it was nice yarn, I loved it, but had nothing to do make with it. so I joined the Karma Swap group and its like Christmas! I offered my yarn and was able to claim someone else's unwanted yarn, aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh. yay for new pretty yarn!

for all you yarn whores. here's my latest yarn purchases/swaps.
bought this Malabrigo in Cosecha at ReBelle on Sunday to make thumbless mittens and a baby hat for a friend. I've finished the first mitten.

I receieved this yarn in a swap. Cherry Hill Yarns Sockittome in Serengeti

its been a long time...

The last month has been absolutely crazy. Gretchen wouldn't sleep during the day unless I was holding her, so no computer time and no knitting time. I started knitting Anouk for Gretchen using Knit Picks Crayon yarn in blues and green. I haven't gotten very far though. I finished my gloves and a calorimetry for myself. Oh and I finished my Anastasia socks finally.

on top of little to no knitting time, I got sick and thankfully the kids missed that. The husband lost his job, so he's been at home job searching. fun times here I tell ya. but hopefully things will start to look up soon!

I leave you with pictures of my calorimetry during our "big" snow and the itty bitty socks I made for Gretchen. I need to get pictures of my gloves and the socks. (and a cute Gretchen picture just cause she's cute)
