tag, I'm it!

I've been tagged so I shall do this :)

Here are the rules... Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog.

1. I have four older annoying brothers that I love dearly (most of the time).

2. blood fascinates me, perhaps that's why I wanted to be a doctor when I was little?

3. I like to watch war movies.

4. I abhor pink. When I was younger my mom used to keep buying me pink items of clothing (as the only girl) and if I didn't wear them she'd make me pay her back for them. So I'd wear them to sleep in because I hated being forced to wear that particular color.

5. I graduated from high school at 16, started college at 17 and graduated from college at 20. again, blame my mother for pushing me (I was homeschooled in high school).

6. I'm a Navy brat...my dad was in the Navy for 30 years. 8 as a Reservist and 22 in the Active Duty Reserves. We lived in Massachusetts, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.

7. I don't like peanuts. I can eat peanut butter, but just can't eat an actual peanut.

I think I'll tag April, Leigh Ann, Amber, and Pixie

Blocks: take 3

They're finished! I really like how they came out. They were fairly easy to knit, the worst part was cutting the styrofoam for the actual block insert.

Pattern- Mitered Square Blocks from New Knits on the Block
Yarn- Knitpicks Shine Sport in Crocus, Blush, Cherry, Grass, Green Apple, River, Sky, Turquoise, and Violet

Blocks: take 1

I have waaaaay too many WIP right now. But these are top priority for a baby shower gift in a little over a week. I ordered the yarn and it just came in yesterday. I promise a picture later tonight of the first one minus the foam block that will go inside the knitting since I still have to locate those at a craft store.

ETA (edited to add): I lied, I still have one square left yet to do on the first block. but I really love the way it looks!

an update on the pants for Tristan's birthday: I finally have both legs done and together on the circular needle. that alone took awhile as my knitting group and I had a hard time figuring out what a backward loop cast on was. but eventually we got it and all looks good so far!

To frog or not to frog

Here's my dilemma- I love this yarn (Lorna's Laces Shepherd's Socks: Sweetie) but I don't like how the yellow is pooling all in one area. I was going to do another pair of Monkey Socks out of this, but I just might have to find another pattern. Frog (rip it) or keep going....suggestions?

Cargo Pants: take 1

Here is the first leg of the pants for Tristan's birthday, I finished it in a day, wasn't too hard. the hem is a bit uneven, but it was my first one ever. I have started the second leg and the hem is actually even on that one, go me! I looooooooove this yarn (Rowan's All Season Cotton: Mocha Chocolate), it is so soft and if I could afford enough for pants for myself you better bet I'd be making some!

ps- I need to find a shirt and shoes to go with these, suggestions welcome!
