last post I promise!

for Michelle (AKKnitter on Ravelry), she knit this lovely BSJ for Gretchen. here is Gretchen modleing it at 2 wks old.

Gloves

ok, finally something for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! this is the first of my gloves. based loosely on the Cigar pattern from Knitty. when I have two hands to type, I'll type up my revisions to fit my short wide hands. my second glove is almost finished as well.

Stripy Ball

I made this Stripy Ball from "Knitted Toys" by Zoe Mellor for a friend's son. I used KnitPicks Shine Sport and the ball is nice and soft. I'm going to make another one for my boys.

Wild Stripes

the finished knitting of Gretchen's Wild Stripes blanket. I still need to do the backing and embroidery one of these days when I have a large block of time to myself...

Toasty Topper

I made this Toasty Topper for my friend's daughter (my son modeling). If I made it again, I probably only would have used a single strand of yarn instead of the double strand recommended. or maybe a thicker yarn.

Fingerless Mitts and Calorimetry

I made this calorimetry and fingerless mitts for a craft exchange I was involved in.

Anastasia Sock

one down, one to go! this was my first toe up sock and I'm quite pleased with how it came out.

help!

I'm looking for a good glove pattern. I've searched Ravelry and haven't found anything I liked. I've never done cables and don't really have the time to try to learn them at the moment due to not having much alone time to knit and focus on that. I'll be using Cascade 220 for my gloves...thanks!

I have finished 3 more projects:

- pair of fingerless mitts

I've also finished one of my Anastasia socks and cast on for the second one.

busy busy busy

unfortunately I don't have much knitting time as little Greta is keeping me busy. but its a good kind of busy. I have however finished the second fingerless mitt for the craft exchange I'm participating in. going to try and make another calorimetry to go with it if I have time. I've slowly been working on my Anastasia socks, about 1-2 rows at a sitting, but its better than no knitting at all right?

about me

I was tagged by Ann

8 random things meme.
Rules are as follows:
· When tagged, you must link to the person who tagged you.
· Then post the rules before your list, and list eight random things about yourself.
· At the end of the post you must tag and link to eight other people.

1. I have a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training that I probably will never use except on my own children.

2. I graduated from high school at 16 and college at 20. I secretly wish I had not let my mom push me to graduate early from high school. I felt somewhat unprepared for college and think that extra year would have benefited me.

3. I love sports of all varieties. I'm a bit of a baseball addict, especially when it comes to playoff time. My sport of choice to play is soccer or volleyball.

4. due to a knee injury from waitressing in college, I can't really play sports anymore and it depresses me. damn worker's comp that said there was nothing wrong with my knee. they aren't the ones who have their knee pop out 2-3 times a year and aren't able to walk normally for 2-3 days afterwards.

5. I'm planning to go back to college eventually to get my B.S. in Nursing. I just need one class to get into nursing school and I should be good to go.

6. I get tired of reading "Dumbo" to my son what seems like 10 times a day. he loves elephants.

7. I miss my first car. a 93 Dodge Shadow, I named "Puddles" because there was a leak in the windshield. so whenever it rained my car seats would get soaked. I sold my poor baby after having owned it for 5.5 years.

8. I love Thanksgiving. its my most favorite holiday. I love the food and being surrounded by people.

I'll tag Michelle and whoever else wants to answer this, because I really don't know anyone who hasn't done it yet.

completion

The knitting of little girl's blanket is done. Its just about done blocking, a few more hours and I'll check it again.

I've started my craft exchange gift, a pair of fingerless mitts. I have one done and love it. might have to make a pair for myself.

worked some more on the Anastasia socks. pattern rocks. can't wait to be finished so I can wear them. wish I was using a prettier yarn, but you use what you have. I can't complain though, it was a gift.

in non knitting news, just finishing up stuff that needs to be done before the baby comes. making spaghetti sauce to freeze. cooking up some pancakes so that breakfast is easy for all the boys. found a new pediatrician for the baby and the boys. I think that's about it. just more house cleaning that needs to be done. the fun stuff in life, right?

almost there

9 more rows. 9 more rows. 9 more rows. I have all the ends weaved in up until this point. then 9 more rows. each row is 158 stitches. it feels like each row takes f.o.r.e.v.e.r. but will start blocking it tonight. next on the agenda is to find a fabric for the back that I like. hopefully that won't take too long.

the countdown is on

well it looks like little girl will be here in the next week. I'm scheduled for an induction (not sharing the day quite yet). so I'm on "operation finish little girl's baby blanket" now. I think I can get it done as long as I don't do any other knitting. but the Anastasia socks that I started the other night are calling my name...

What kind of yarn are you?

You are Dishcloth Cotton. You are a very hard worker, most at home when you're at home. You are thrifty and seemingly born to clean. You are considered to be a Plain Jane, but you are too practical to notice.

Christmas knitting is D-O-N-E!!!!

yay. so excited to finally be done with my Christmas knitting. I have made:

- 4 of these hats (for my nephews, initials on the inside of each so they know whose is whose)
- 1 of this hat (for my dad, though I'm going to add some ear flaps since its not long enough to cover the husband's ears at this point)
- 2 calorimetry's (one for a friend's birthday, one for my niece's mom)
- 1 purse that I semi-designed but its based loosely off the Marsupial Tote in Stitch N Bitch (for my 12 yr old niece)
- 2 Megan's braid's hats (for my 7 and 2 yr old nieces)
- 1 cell phone holder with strap (for mom)
- 1 pair of Cigar gloves (oldest brother)
- 1 Entwined (for sister in law)

I think that's it. I have pictures of most on the camera, but for some reason its not working again. sigh. now I just need to write down washing instructions, wrap the gifts, put them in a box and mail them to my parent's house. mission accomplished to have this done before little girl was born.

some stress has been relieved a bit. hoping that it stays this way.

stress

Life is way too stressful right now. Little girl is due in 3 weeks. Everyone is asking for money that we don't have. I just need life to give me a break. Its hard enough to be away from everyone I know at a time like this, I don't need stress added to the equation. I just wish I could indulge in lots of wine and chocolate, but unfortunately the damn gestational diabetes keeps me from doing so. sigh.

Thank God for knitting, it definitely does keep me somewhat sane and keeps me from freaking out more often than I already do.

in knitting news I've finished two more projects
-one winter hat for my nephew
-cell phone case for my mom

I've cast on for Entwined for my sister-in-law. needed a break from the hats for awhile. But I foresee that being finished tonight or tomorrow.
